Nutrition for two!

The motto says "you're eating for 2 now"....WRONG. You need to consume nutrition for 2, not double the amount. So when I eat, I need to make sure that the food is nutrient dense!

A really yummy snack to nibble over the day....

fill a little bowl with some raw cocao chips, gogi berries, coconut flakes, pepita's, almonds, and dried apricots. (all organic,of course).

MMMMMMMmmmmmmm.

Superfoods in pregnancy

I am now 24 weeks pregnant. This pregnancy does seem to be a little different from my first. The main difference is my energy levels.
I know that having a 2 year old is tiring in itself, but I don't seem to remember having such a dramatic desire to have afternoon naps last time.
I have found though, that on the days that I do not take enough Spirulina (less than 12), I have absolutely no energy or motivation and my tolerance is minimal. I think that i also feel a bit more emotional too.
And now that I think back on it, because I was working when I was pregnant last time I had a much more structured routine, which enabled me to stick to my regular, adequate doses of spirulina.
Spirulina is a seavegetable that is rich in vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and chloraphyll. Because it is a food, the nutrients it contains are all in harmony with eachother and work synergistically to create this whole superfood. This makes it easy for the body to recognise, absorb, process and use these nutrients.
I like to take between 12-18 tablets a day, as this is when I have plenty of energy and don't crave sweet foods or feel desperate for a nap.
Spiruliana may not be suitable for EVERYONE, but I doubt there will be many pregnant women who do not experience an increase in energy if they take it.
I also take a pregnancy multi, fish oil capsules, vitamin c and zinc and magnesium, but I truely believe that spirulina is the superfood which makes my pregnancies so much more enjoyable, not to mention the importance that providing adequate nutrition to the developing baby has!!!

In the begining

Im going to use this forum to share my mothering experiences. I have a gorgeous 2 year old girl and we have encountered all of the common issues that other mothers and babies have along the way. At these times, I sort advice from other mum's and via blogs and found them very useful.
I suppose I should explain our 'style' of parenting. Although I have never strictly followed any parenting 'method', we are 'attachment parenting'. Initially I did this by instinct. I consider mothers from ancient tribes the most knowledgable parents, as they have used the same parenting practices for thousands of years.
I have found parenting a joyous experience with isolated times of fatigue and doubt. I am going to go back to the begining of my time with Ella and share with you from conception, through pregnancy and birth and then our wonderful first 2 years of milestones, health isssues and natural treatments, travel, vaccination, introduction to solids etc, in the hope that my experiences may help others.
I have also just found out that I am 2 weeks pregnant and I will share this exciting new journey too.
